Alma Lite targets Apple silicon Macs running macOS 26 or later. Core speech models are included with the app. Long sessions need enough free storage, memory, and power; exact performance depends on your Mac and workload. Intel Macs are not part of this release.

Alma Lite v0.1 is planned as a free app, without a paid unlock or subscription. Core transcription has no built-in session-duration cap or minute quota. Practical recording length is still limited by available storage, memory, power, and device performance. Optional AI providers have their own accounts, prices, and limits.

Yes. Core speech recognition runs locally with the included models and does not require an AI account. Optional Transcript Actions use an online AI provider and require your permission to send text. See the privacy policy for that distinction.

Choose a microphone, system audio, or a supported media file. Microphone and system audio are separate input modes, not simultaneous sources in this version. Make sure you have the rights and participant consent needed to record or process the audio.

Check the selected input, its volume, and the relevant permissions in macOS System Settings → Privacy & Security. For microphone input, check that the device is connected. For a file, confirm it contains a supported audio track. If the problem continues, email us with the input type and any visible error message.

Add a few relevant hotwords, or maintain reusable lists in Transcription Settings and import the terms you need. You can pause a live recording to edit its words before resuming. Hotwords help provide hints; they do not guarantee exact recognition. Always verify important details against the original audio.

Delete the session in Alma Lite to remove its transcript, associated Actions, and app-managed recording. Manage reusable hotword lists separately in Settings. Withdraw content-sharing permission in Provider Settings and sign out to remove local authorization. Exports, backups, and copies already sent to an AI provider need to be handled separately. Read retention and your choices.

A provider failure does not mean your local transcript is lost. Earlier accepted outcomes remain separate. Use “Retry exact attempt” when the app offers it, or “Retry Save” when generation succeeded but saving failed. If no safe retry is offered, contact support with the visible error and omit any private content.
